Description

Schinus engleri, described by F.A. Barkley in 1944, is a member of the Anacardiaceae family. It occurs in Brazil (Southeast and South regions), Uruguay, and Argentina. This species is particularly abundant along the southern Uruguayan coast. The plant serves as a host for Eucecidoses Minutanus, a species that induces galls on its tissues. Habitat loss is a major threat to the survival of Schinus engleri.
