Cyrtanthus elatus, known as the Scarborough Lily, is a bulbous flowering plant native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is also referred to by the common names fire lily and George lily. The species was formally described in 1969 and belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family.
Description
Cyrtanthus elatus is a member of the genus Cyrtanthus within the Amaryllidaceae family. It is indigenous to the Cape Provinces and is recognized by its bulbous structure and showy flowers. The plant is commonly known as the Scarborough Lily and is also called the fire lily or George lily in some regions. It was first published in 1969 under the authorship of (Jacq.) Traub.
