Anisocoma acaulis is an annual herb in the Asteraceae family, native to the southwestern United States and northwestern Mexico. It grows 5–25 cm tall, with 1–25 erect or ascending flowering stems. The plant has narrowly obovate, pinnatifid rosette leaves and a single flower head with about 40 yellowish white or yellow ligulate flowers. It is found in Nevada, Sonora, Baja California, California, Arizona, and Mexico Northwest.

Description

Anisocoma acaulis is an annual herb with a height of 5–25 cm. The flowering stems are erect or ascending, unbranched, and can be glabrous or tomentose. Rosette leaves are 2.0–7.0 cm long, narrowly obovate, pinnatifid, and have a petiole-like base with a winged structure. The synflorescence consists of a single head with a peduncle lacking bracts. The involucre is cylindrical to campanulate, with green or reddish purple bracts. The receptacle is flat or slightly convex and has scales. Achenes are cylindrical, 4.0–7.0 mm long, with 10–15 ribs and a short beak. The pappus is white, plumose, and 20.0–27.0 mm long. It was first described in 1845 by Torr. & A.Gray.
