Sarcococca hookeriana, known as the Himalayan sweet box, is a species in the Buxaceae family, native to regions including China, North East India, Bhutan, and Nepal. This evergreen shrub typically reaches heights of 12–24 in (30–61 cm). It bears aromatic white flowers during winter, succeeded by black berries.

Description

Sarcococca hookeriana is a low-growing, evergreen shrub belonging to the Buxaceae family. It is found in the wild in regions such as China North-Central, China South-Central, East Himalaya, Nepal, and Tibet. The plant is characterized by its aromatic white flowers, which bloom in winter, and its black berries that follow. It was first described in 1859 by Baill.
