Protea scabra, known as the Sandpaper-leaf Sugarbush, is a flowering groundcover in the Proteaceae family. It is endemic to South Africa, where it grows in mountainous regions including the Hottentots Holland Mountains, Riviersonderend Mountains, Kleinrivier Mountains, Caledon, and the Swartberg mountains.

Description

Protea scabra is a member of the Protea genus and is native to the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is distinguished by its sandpaper-like leaves and is adapted to the local mountainous habitats. The species was first described in 1810 and is part of the Proteaceae family, which is known for its diversity in southern Africa.
