Sanchezia scandens is a species in the Acanthaceae family, native to the Amazon region of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. It was first described in 1964 by Leonard and L.B. Smith, based on earlier work by Lindau.

Description

This species is part of the genus Sanchezia and is found in the Parque Nacional Natural de Amacayacu in Amazonas, Brazil, as well as in northern Brazil and surrounding areas. Its distribution extends into Leticia, a region at the confluence of Brazil, Colombia, and Peru. The Acanthaceae family is known for its diverse and often ornamental species, many of which are adapted to tropical and subtropical environments. Sanchezia scandens is one such example, reflecting the rich biodiversity of the Amazon basin.
