Helianthus agrestis, described by Pollard in 1900, is a member of the Asteraceae family. It is commonly known as the rural sunflower and is native to Florida, where it also occurs in Georgia. This species is part of the genus Helianthus, which includes 150 sunflower species.

Description

Helianthus agrestis grows in wet soils of marshes and pine flatwoods at elevations under 50 meters. It is endemic to the southeastern United States and is found only in Florida and Georgia. The species was first published in 1900.
