Paronychia rugelii (Chapm.) Shuttlew. ex Chapm. is a member of the Caryophyllaceae family. It is native to the southeastern United States, specifically Georgia and Florida. This species is commonly found in woodlands and on disturbed sites at elevations below 200 meters. It is sometimes called sand-squares. The plant was first described in 1897.
