Lygodesmia aphylla is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family, growing 30-80 cm tall. It has solitary stems that are erect, green, and strongly striate. Leaves are linear, with basal rosettes and cauline leaves that may be reduced to scales. The plant produces 1-5 flower heads in corymbiform arrays, with pink to lavender or blue corollas 30-40 mm long. The involucres are cylindrical, and the phyllaries have purplish, acute tips. The cypselae are 11-14 mm long, with pappi 12-18 mm. It is native to Georgia and Florida and was first described in 1838.
