Pinaropappus roseus is a perennial plant in the Asteraceae family, native to regions in the United States and Mexico. It is commonly known as rock-lettuce and was first described in 1832.

Description

Pinaropappus roseus is a perennial herb growing 10-40 cm tall, with 120 or more stems that have relatively thin bases. Its leaves are narrowly oblanceolate, measuring 4-12 cm in length and 2-15 mm in width, with mid cauline leaves often reduced to linear or minute bracts. The involucres are bell-shaped, 10-15 mm tall and 12-20 mm wide. Phyllaries are ovate to narrowly lanceolate, 2-14 mm long, with dark brown, obtuse to acute tips. Paleae measure 12-18 mm. The florets, 20-40 in number, have corollas that are pale pink on the lower side and white to yellow on the upper side, 15-18 mm long. Cypselae are 5-6 mm long, with pappi 4-7 mm long. The species has a chromosome count of 2n = 18.
