Nothofagus obliqua (Mirb.) Oerst.
Nothofagus obliqua, commonly known as roble beech, is a deciduous tree native to Chile and Argentina, growing between 33 and 43° south latitude. Its northern range in Chile includes the Vizcachas Mountains and La Campana National Park. The species was proposed to be renamed Lophozonia obliqua in 2013.
Description
Nothofagus obliqua (Mirb.) Oerst. is a member of the Nothofagaceae family and is found in regions such as Chile Central, Chile South, and Argentina South. It is also reported in other areas including Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain. Commonly referred to as roble beech, it is known by other local names including Patagonian oak, roble, pellín, and hualle. The species was first published in 1871.
