Rhodamnia argentea, a rainforest tree native to eastern Australia, is found in New South Wales and Queensland. It grows in various rainforest habitats at sea level or in adjacent ranges, typically on sand, alluvium, and volcanic soils. The species is known by several common names, including malletwood, white myrtle, silver leaf, silver malletwood, and white turpentine. Its distribution extends from the Hastings River in New South Wales to Bowen in Queensland.

Description

Rhodamnia argentea is a member of the Myrtaceae family and was first described in 1867 by Benth. It is a rainforest tree that occurs in a range of rainforest environments, often in lowland areas or on nearby slopes. The species is adapted to diverse soil types, including sandy, alluvial, and volcanic substrates. Commonly referred to as malletwood, white myrtle, silver leaf, silver malletwood, and white turpentine, it is a component of the eastern Australian rainforest flora.
