The flowers measure 12 to 29 cm in diameter and have long, hanging tips. It is native to the tropical rainforests of Java and was first described in 1841.
Description

This species is a parasite that develops its flowers directly from the roots of the Tetrastigma vine. The flowers are reddish-brown, with elongated, drooping tips and a diameter ranging between 12 and 29 cm. The plant does not possess leaves, stems, roots, or photosynthetic tissue. It is primarily associated with the tropical rainforest ecosystems of Java. The species was first published in 1841.
