Escallonia rubra, known as redclaws, is a flowering plant in the family Escalloniaceae. It is native to southern Chile and adjacent regions of Argentina.

Description

Escallonia rubra (Ruiz & Pav.) Pers., from the family Escalloniaceae, is a flowering plant species. It is indigenous to southern Chile and nearby parts of Argentina. The species was first described in 1806. Its distribution also includes areas such as Spain, the conterminous 48 United States, Argentina South, Chile Central, Chile South, France, Great Britain, Hawaii, Ireland, New Zealand North, and New Zealand South.
