Morus rubra, known as Red Mulberry, is a Moraceae species native to eastern and central North America. It occurs in regions including Ontario, Minnesota, Vermont, and extends south to Florida, as well as west to South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and Texas. Isolated populations have been reported in New Mexico, Idaho, and British Columbia.
Description
Morus rubra is a tree species in the Moraceae family, native to eastern and central North America. Its distribution includes areas such as Ontario, Minnesota, Vermont, and regions extending south to southern Florida, as well as west to southeastern South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and central Texas. Isolated populations have also been reported in New Mexico, Idaho, and British Columbia. The species was first described in 1753 by Linnaeus (L.).
