Leea rubra, known as red leea, is a Vitaceae shrub found in Bangladesh, Assam, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, the Philippines, New Guinea, the Northern Territory, and Queensland. It grows up to 3 m tall and has 2-, 3-, or 4-pinnate leaves. The plant features red flower buds and stems, with petals that may be cream, pink, or red. Its fruit is a red, purple, or black berry approximately 11 mm in diameter and contains 4–6 seeds.

Description

Leea rubra is a shrub in the Vitaceae family, native to parts of South and Southeast Asia, as well as the Pacific. It was first described in 1825 by Blume. This species is characterized by its multi-pinnate leaves and striking red flower buds and stems. The flowers have five petals that can vary in color from cream to red. The fruit is a small berry, typically red, purple, or black, measuring about 11 mm in diameter and containing 4–6 seeds. It is found in a wide range of locations, including Bangladesh, Assam, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Borneo, the Philippines, New Guinea, the Northern Territory, and Queensland.
