Costus woodsonii is a flowering plant in the Costaceae family, native to Central and South America. It is a rhizomatous perennial recommended for tropical gardens and is more widely cultivated than other Costus species.

Description

Costus woodsonii, described by Paul Maas in 1972, is native to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia. It is a geophytic perennial with red canes and is suitable for coastal gardens, borders, and containers. The species is named after Robert Woodson of the Missouri Botanical Garden and is known for its suitability in wet, tropical environments.
