Nepenthes rafflesiana, known as Raffles' pitcher plant, is a tropical pitcher plant species found in Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, and Singapore. It is highly variable, with at least three distinct varieties in Borneo alone. Some forms produce large pitchers comparable to those of N. rajah.
Description
Nepenthes rafflesiana belongs to the family Nepenthaceae and was described in 1835 by Jack ex Hook. It is native to Southern Asia and has a wide distribution across several regions in Southeast Asia. The species exhibits significant morphological variation, with numerous forms and varieties having been documented. Notably, some individuals produce exceptionally large pitchers, making them among the most impressive in the genus Nepenthes.
