Raddiella esenbeckii
Raddiella esenbeckii (Steud.) C.E.Calderón ex Soderstr.

Raddiella esenbeckii is a grass species in the Poaceae family, native to several regions in South America, including Brazil, Colombia, and surrounding countries. It is characterized by its sprawling or geniculate culms, ovate-triangular leaves, and synflorescences bearing both male and female spikelets. The species is distinguished from R. minima by its taller culms, longer leaf blades, and the presence of both male and female spikelets in axillary synflorescences.
Description
Raddiella esenbeckii is a grass species with rhizomes absent and culms 8–40 cm tall, sprawling to geniculate, with wiry erect portions. The leaf blades are 1.5–1.8 cm long, ovate-triangular, and asymmetrical, with truncate bases and ciliate lower margins. Terminal synflorescences are 4–5 mm long and bear only male spikelets, while axillary synflorescences are 1.3 cm long and contain both male and female spikelets. Male spikelets are 3 mm long, lanceolate, and glabrous to sparsely hispid. The species is differentiated from R. minima by its taller culms, longer leaf blades, and the presence of both male and female spikelets in axillary synflorescences. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, and other parts of northern South America.
