Qualea parviflora, known as pau-terra in Portuguese, is a deciduous tree native to Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. It is adapted to dry climates, particularly the tropical savanna of the cerrado.

Description

Qualea parviflora belongs to the genus Qualea in the family Vochysiaceae. It is found in several regions of Brazil, including the Northeast, North, Southeast, and West-Central, as well as in Paraguay and Bolivia. The species was first described in 1826 by Mart. This tree thrives in arid environments and is commonly associated with the cerrado biome, a tropical savanna ecosystem characterized by a distinct dry season.
