Glossoloma purpureum is a species in the Gesneriaceae family, native to Nariño, Colombia, and Ecuador. It was formally described in 2005 by J.L. Clark, based on the original work of L.P. Kvist and L.E. Skog.

Description

Glossoloma purpureum belongs to the genus Glossoloma within the Gesneriaceae family. It is known by the common name 'purpur glossoloma' in both English and the target language. The species is native to regions in Nariño, Colombia, as well as parts of Ecuador. The scientific name was published in 2005 by J.L. Clark, who recognized the work of L.P. Kvist and L.E. Skog in its initial study. This species is part of a group of flowering plants that are often found in tropical and subtropical regions, with the Gesneriaceae family commonly associated with epiphytic and terrestrial growth forms.
