Spergularia purpurea (Pers.) G.Don is an annual herb in the Caryophyllaceae (carpetweeds) family. It is native to regions including Portugal, Spain, Morocco, and the conterminous 48 United States. The plant exhibits a self-supporting growth form and has broad, simple leaves. It typically grows to a height of 9 cm. The species was first described in 1831.
