Ptisana howeana is a fern species in the family Marattiaceae, native to Lord Howe Island. It is also known by the local names horse shoe fern or king fern. This species can reach frond lengths of up to four metres.

Description

Ptisana howeana (W.R.B.Oliv.) Murdock is a member of the Marattiaceae family. It is endemic to Lord Howe Island, with occasional records in cultivation. The plant is characterized by its large fronds, which can extend up to four metres in length. It is sometimes referred to as horse shoe fern or king fern in local usage. The species was formally described in 2008.
