Psydrax lividus (Hiern) Bridson is a shrub or small tree in the Rubiaceae family, native to eastern and southern Africa. It is found in countries such as Angola, Botswana, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, as well as the Caprivi Strip, Northern Provinces, St. Helena, and Zaïre. The plant is either deciduous or evergreen, with green branches arranged oppositely and horizontally.

Description

Psydrax lividus is an Afrotropical species within the Rubiaceae family, commonly found in various regions of Africa. Its distribution spans from eastern to southern parts of the continent, including countries like Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The plant is characterized by its shrub or small tree form, with green branches that grow in an opposite and horizontal pattern. The species was first described in 1985 and is part of the genus Psydrax, which includes several other tropical and subtropical plants.
