Pseudobombax munguba is a species in the Malvaceae family, native to the Amazon region of Colombia and parts of Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. The species is also present in the departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Meta, Putumayo, Vaupés, and Vichada in Colombia.
Description
Pseudobombax munguba (Mart.) Dugand is a member of the Malvaceae family and is native to the Amazon basin. Its distribution includes the Amazonian regions of Colombia, particularly the departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Meta, Putumayo, Vaupés, and Vichada, as well as the Amazonian slopes of Nariño. It is also found in the Caquetá and Guaviare departments, including the Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete. The species extends into northern Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru. The plant is documented in various protected areas such as Parque Nacional Natural Amacayacu and Parque Nacional Natural Tinigua. The scientific name was published in 1952.
