Prosthechea abbreviata is an orchid species belonging to the family Orchidaceae. It is distributed across several Central and South American countries, including Chocó, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico Southeast, Nicaragua, and Panamá. The species was first described in 1998 by W.E. Higgins, based on the work of Schltr. A voucher specimen for this species is recorded as C. H. Nelson & A. F. Clewell 703, housed in the F and TEFH herbaria.

Description

Prosthechea abbreviata is part of the Orchidaceae family, a diverse group of flowering plants. It is native to a range of countries in Central and South America, including Chocó, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico Southeast, Nicaragua, and Panamá. The species was formally described in 1998 by W.E. Higgins, following the original work by Schltr. A voucher specimen for this species, collected by C. H. Nelson and A. F. Clewell, is cataloged as 703 and stored in the F and TEFH herbaria.
