Prestonia cayennensis is a species in the Apocynaceae family, native to northern South America. It is found in Brazil, Colombia, French Guiana, Guyana, and Venezuela, as well as in the departments of Antioquia, Chocó, and Guainía in Colombia, and the Vaupés region. The species was formally described in 1951 by Pichon, with the basionym attributed to A.DC.

Description

Prestonia cayennensis belongs to the genus Prestonia within the Apocynaceae family, commonly known as the dogbane family. Its geographic range includes several countries and regions in northern South America, particularly in the Amazon and Orinoco basins. The species is documented in Brazil North, as well as in specific Colombian departments such as Antioquia, Chocó, Guainía, and Vaupés. It is also present in French Guiana, Guyana, and Venezuela. The scientific name was established in 1951 by Pichon, with the original name credited to A.DC.
