Malus prattii is a species of crabapple in the family Rosaceae, native to China's Guangdong, Guizhou, west Sichuan, and northwest Yunnan provinces. It is a tree reaching 8–10 m in height, with oval to oblong leaves and white, orbicular flowers. The fruit is ellipsoidal, yellow to red, and 1.0–1.5 cm in diameter. It blooms in June and fruits mature in August. It grows in mixed forests at elevations of 1400–3500 m a.s.l.

Description

Malus prattii is a deciduous tree with branches that are terete, pubescent when young, and glabrescent. Leaves are petiolate, with a petiole of 1.9–2.3 cm, and blades measuring 8.0–9.1 × 4.3–5.1 cm, with a rounded or truncate base and acuminate apex. The inflorescence is corymbose with 5–8 flowers, and the pedicel is 2.2 cm long. The hypanthium, sepals, and petals are variable in pubescence. The pome is ellipsoidal, with a carpopodium of 2.6 cm. The species has a chromosome number of 2n = 34.
