Symphyotrichum turbinellum is a perennial flowering plant in the Asteraceae family, native to Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. It is commonly known as prairie aster and is recognized for its flowering period from August to October. The species has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.

Description

Symphyotrichum turbinellum, known as prairie aster, is a member of the Asteraceae family and is native to the central United States. It is found in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, with a notable presence in the Ozarks region. The plant blooms from August to October and has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit for its horticultural value. It was formally described in 1995 under the authorship of G.L. Nesom, based on earlier work by Lindl.
