Pinus culminicola is a pine species in the Pinaceae family, native to northeast Mexico. It is confined to a limited range in the northern Sierra Madre Oriental, particularly on Cerro Potosí, at elevations between 3000 and 3700 meters. This species thrives in a cool, moist subalpine climate.

Description

Pinus culminicola, known as Potosi Pinyon Pine, is a member of the pinyon pine group. It is endemic to the high elevations of the northern Sierra Madre Oriental in the Mexican states of Coahuila and Nuevo León. The species is most abundant on Cerro Potosí, the highest peak in the region. It is adapted to subalpine conditions and is found in a very restricted area, making it a species with a highly localized distribution.
