Gastrodia cunninghamii, known as the potato orchid, is a species in the Orchidaceae family. It is found in the Chatham Islands, New Zealand North, New Zealand South, and Vanuatu. This parasitic orchid was first described in 1853 by Hook.f.

Description

Gastrodia cunninghamii is a parasitic orchid species native to parts of New Zealand and Vanuatu. It is commonly referred to as the potato orchid. The plant is distributed across the North and South Islands of New Zealand, as well as the Chatham Islands. It is also found in Vanuatu. This species is not considered threatened and is commonly found in forested areas. It was first published in 1853 by Hook.f.
