Poraqueiba sericea is a species in the family Metteniusaceae, native to the Amazonian regions of Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. It is documented in several protected areas, including the Reserva Nacional Natural Puinawai, Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete, and others in Amazonas, Caquetá, Guainía, Vaupés, and the Putumayo region. It also occurs in the Bota Caucana and Amazonian slopes of Nariño. The species was first described in 1849 by Tul.
Description
Poraqueiba sericea is found in the Amazon basin, particularly in the southern Vichada, eastern Meta, and the departments of Amazonas, Caquetá, Guainía, Guaviare, Putumayo, and Vaupés in Colombia. It is also present in Brazil's northern region, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. The species has been recorded in the Caño Cuduyarí in Vaupés and is documented in the Jardín Botánico de Bogotá. It inhabits the Amazonian lowlands and piedmont areas, including Puerto Leguízamo and Mocoa. The species is part of the Amazonian flora and is associated with the protected areas of the region.
