Its distribution includes areas such as Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, Cambodia, China South-Central and Southeast, the East Himalaya, Fiji, Hainan, India, Java, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Nepal, New Guinea, the Northern Territory, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Sulawesi. The species was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753.
