Pogostemon vestitus is a member of the Lamiaceae, or mint, family. It was first scientifically described by Benth. in 1830. The species occurs naturally in the Indian subcontinent. As part of the genus Pogostemon, it shares characteristics typical of the family, including aromatic properties and a tendency for square stems and opposite leaves.
