Platycarya strobilacea is a flowering plant species in the Juglandaceae family. It is native to eastern Asia, including China, Vietnam, Korea, and Japan. Initially considered the sole species in the genus Platycarya, a second species, Platycarya longzhouensis, has since been identified.
Description
Platycarya strobilacea, described in 1843 by Siebold & Zucc., is part of the Juglandaceae family. It is distributed across several regions including China North-Central, China South-Central, China Southeast, Japan, Korea, the North Caucasus, Tajikistan, the Transcaucasus, and Vietnam. This species was once regarded as the only living member of the genus Platycarya, but a second species, Platycarya longzhouensis, is now recognized within the genus.
