Cyanea rivularis is a species in the Campanulaceae family, commonly known as plateau cyanea. It is endemic to the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaii. As of recent records, only three small populations with a total of 19 individual plants remain in the wild. The species was listed as endangered under the U.S. Federal Register in 1996.

Description

Cyanea rivularis, a member of the genus Cyanea, is native to Hawaii and restricted to the island of Kauaʻi. It is a flowering plant in the bellflower family (Campanulaceae). The species is critically rare, with only three small populations documented in the wild, totaling 19 individuals. Due to its limited distribution and population size, it was recognized as an endangered species in 1996 by the United States government. Conservation efforts are necessary to preserve this species.
