Nepenthes northiana, a tropical pitcher plant, is endemic to Borneo and grows at elevations from 0 to 500 m. It was first illustrated by the English botanic illustrator Marianne North, after whom it is named. The species was discovered in the late 19th century and played a role in highlighting Sarawak's rich botanical diversity.
