Pink rain lily
Zephyranthes minuta (Kunth) D.Dietr.
Zephyranthes minuta (Kunth) D.Dietr., known as Pink rain lily, is a perennial flowering plant in the Amaryllidaceae family. It is sometimes referred to as Zephyranthes grandiflora, but this name is considered illegitimate due to synonymy with the older name Amaryllis minuta. As a result, 'minuta' is the accepted epithet under the ICN. The name Z. grandiflora is also commonly used for Zephyranthes carinata in horticultural contexts.
Description
Zephyranthes minuta is native to regions including ZW, IN, JP, the conterminous 48 United States, Andaman Is., Bangladesh, Cook Is., Guatemala, Hawaii, and parts of Mexico. It is a member of the Amaryllidaceae family. The species was first described in 1840. Due to taxonomic confusion, Z. grandiflora is often used as a synonym for Z. minuta, although it is not the valid name. Additionally, Z. grandiflora is frequently applied to Zephyranthes carinata in horticulture, despite not being the correct nomenclature.
