Lomelosia caucasica (M.Bieb.) Greuter & Burdet

Lomelosia caucasica is a perennial flowering plant in the Caprifoliaceae family, native to the Caucasus, northeastern Turkey, and northern Iran. It grows up to 60 cm tall and forms clumps with grey-green, divided leaves. The plant produces pincushion-shaped buds on erect, hairy stems, which open into pale blue or lavender flower heads measuring 4–8 cm in diameter. These flowers bloom from late summer through autumn.
Description
Lomelosia caucasica (M.Bieb.) Greuter & Burdet is a member of the Caprifoliaceae family and is commonly known as pincushion-flower. It is native to the North Caucasus, Transcaucasus, Turkey, and Iran. The plant is a clump-forming perennial with grey-green, divided leaves. Its distinctive pincushion-shaped buds appear on upright, hairy stems and open into pale blue or lavender flower heads. These flowers measure 4–8 cm in diameter and bloom from late summer into autumn. The species was first described in 1985.
