Pilosocereus lanuginosus is a species in the Cactaceae family, originally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753 as Cactus lanuginosus. It is native to the Leeward Islands, including Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. The species is also found in several regions of Colombia, including La Guajira, Magdalena, and Nariño, as well as in the Netherlands Antilles and other parts of the Caribbean and South America.
Description
Pilosocereus lanuginosus belongs to the Cactaceae family and is native to the Leeward Islands, particularly Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao. It was first described in 1753 by Carl Linnaeus under the name Cactus lanuginosus. The species is also documented in various Colombian regions such as La Guajira, Magdalena, and Nariño, as well as in the Netherlands Antilles. Its distribution extends to other parts of the Caribbean and South America. The species was formally published in 1957 under its current scientific name by Byles and G.D. Rowley.
