Description

Pilosocereus azulensis, described by N.P. Taylor and Zappi in 1997, is a cactus species native to Brazil. It occurs in the Southeast part of the country and is confined to subtropical or tropical dry forest habitats. The species is at risk due to the degradation and loss of its natural environment. Despite its local names, Xique-Xique-Azul and Facheiro do Azul, it is not taxonomically associated with the genus Xiquexique. The species is part of the Cactaceae family and is recognized for its restricted geographic range and ecological vulnerability.
