Description

Leucadendron discolor is a member of the Proteaceae family and is found only in the Cape Provinces of South Africa. It is known by the common names Piketberg Conebush in English and Rooitolbos in Afrikaans. The species is characterized by a slow growth rate, with the development of the root system and the process of propagation taking up to two years from seed to the first flower. The plant becomes capable of reproduction only after its third year. The male cultivar 'Sunset' is notable for its exuberant flowering in early spring, featuring a dome-like receptacle densely covered with small male flowers.
