Hedycarya arborea, known as pigeonwood, is a shrub or small tree in the Monimiaceae family. It is native to New Zealand, found in the North and South Islands, as well as the Manawatāwhi / Three Kings Islands. This species thrives in shaded, wet environments and can grow up to 12 metres tall. It produces bright orange to red fruits.
