Phyllostachys propinqua is a species of bamboo in the family Poaceae, native to several Chinese provinces including Anhui, Fujian, Guangxi, Guizhou, Henan, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Yunnan, and Zhejiang. It was first described in 1945 by McClure.

Phyllostachys propinqua is a member of the grass family (Poaceae) and is part of the genus Phyllostachys. Its distribution is centered in the South-Central and Southeast regions of China. The species was formally published in 1945 by McClure.
