Petrea asperifolia is a shrub or small tree in the Verbenaceae family, growing 2.5 to 4 meters tall. It is native to tropical dry deciduous forests in Chiapas, Mexico, as well as Honduras and Nicaragua, typically between 400 and 1000 meters elevation. It is found in secondary vegetation in disturbed areas and has been collected only once in Honduras.

Description

Petrea asperifolia (Miranda) Hammel is a species in the Verbenaceae family. It is native to southern Mexico (Chiapas), Honduras, and Nicaragua, where it grows in tropical dry deciduous forests and disturbed areas. The species is known from a single collection in Honduras. It typically inhabits elevations between 400 and 1000 meters and is described as a shrub or small tree reaching 2.5 to 4 meters in height.
