Persoonia pauciflora, a flowering plant in the Proteaceae family, is native to a limited region in New South Wales. It is a small, spreading shrub with bright green, thread-like leaves and a few yellow flowers that bloom in summer. First described in 1999, it closely resembles P. isophylla but differs in having fewer and shorter flowers. Due to its very restricted range, it is classified as 'critically endangered' under the Australian Government Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
Description
Persoonia pauciflora, known as the North Rothbury persoonia, is a species of flowering shrub in the Proteaceae family. It is found only in a small area of New South Wales and is distinguished by its bright green, thread-like leaves and a small number of yellow summer flowers. This species was first described in 1999 by P.H. Weston. It is closely related to P. isophylla but can be distinguished by its fewer and shorter flowers. Its extremely limited distribution has led to its classification as 'critically endangered' under the Australian Government Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
