Parodia herteri is a cactus species native to Brazil, belonging to the Cactaceae family. It was first described in 1936 as Echinocactus herteri by Erich Werdermann and later reclassified as Parodia herteri in 1987 by Nigel Paul Taylor. The species is named after botanist Wilhelm Herter.

Description

Parodia herteri is a member of the Cactaceae family and is found in the southern regions of Brazil and Uruguay. It is part of the genus Parodia and is classified under the subfamily Cactoideae. The species was originally described in 1936 under the genus Echinocactus by Erich Werdermann, but subsequent taxonomic revisions led to its reclassification under the genus Parodia in 1987 by Nigel Paul Taylor.
