Paramollugo nudicaulis
Paramollugo nudicaulis (Lam.) Thulin

Paramollugo nudicaulis is a plant species in the Molluginaceae family, native to Madagascar and surrounding islands. It has spread as a weed across tropical Africa, southern Arabia, and parts of South and Southeast Asia. The species was lectotypified in 2016 using a specimen collected by Commerson in Mauritius, though its occurrence on the island remains uncertain due to possible confusion in locality or collector records. The type specimen may alternatively originate from Madagascar, where Commerson and Sonnerat collected extensively.
Description
Paramollugo nudicaulis is a member of the Molluginaceae family, with a distribution that includes regions such as Kruger National Park, Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, China Southeast, Comoros, Congo, Djibouti, East Himalaya, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and others. The species was lectotypified in 2016 using a specimen from Mauritius collected by Commerson, though only one additional specimen from the island has been recorded, raising questions about the accuracy of its collection details. The possibility that the type specimen may have been collected in Madagascar, where both Commerson and Sonnerat worked, remains speculative.
