Yucca elata, known as Palmella, is a perennial plant in the Asparagaceae family. It is native to the Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts in southwestern North America, including parts of the United States and northern Mexico. The species was first described in 1882 and is found in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and regions of Mexico. Its distribution is global, but populations are observed to be declining.

Description

Yucca elata, also referred to as soaptree yucca or soapweed, is a desert-dwelling perennial. It is adapted to arid environments and is commonly found in the Sonoran and Chihuahuan Deserts. The plant has a wide range within the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Despite its broad distribution, there are indications that the species is becoming less common in certain areas.
