Blechnum appendiculatum, known as palm fern, is a species in the family Blechnaceae. It is native to regions spanning from the southern United States to western South America. It is also found in the Azores, the Caribbean, and parts of Central America, including countries such as Colombia, Costa Rica, and Ecuador. The species was first described in 1810 by Willd. It typically grows in rocky hammocks and moist forest environments.

Description

Blechnum appendiculatum is a fern species with a wide geographic distribution. It is found in the southern United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and western South America. Additional records include the Azores, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and other regions. It thrives in rocky hammocks and moist forests. The species was first published in 1810 by Willd. It is also known by the common names hammock fern, sinkhole fern, and New World midsorus fern.
